INSTALLATION
Now that I have downloaded V3mail, how do I install it?
Locate the installation file < v3m32v12.exe > on your hard disk and double click on it. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
I'm an AOL user, how can I use V3mail?
AOL uses a proprietary email system and therefore doesn't provide you with a SMTP server. However, since you are connected to the internet, you CAN use a FREE (or Pay) internet email service which will provide you with a SMTP email server and will instruct you how to setup & configure your email readers.
What is the CC:, BCC: email address field?
A "carbon copy" ( CC: ) recipient will receive a copy of the email. A "blind carbon copy" ( BCC: ) recipeint will also receive a copy, but the BCC's recipients email address will not be listed as a recipient.
When a recipient receives your email and would like to reply to it, your Reply-to email address is the address where the email will be sent to. Your Reply-to email address is an optional internet setting. If left blank, any reply to your emails will be sent to the address in the "Your Email Address:" field.
Can I use HTML code in my emails?
No. The current version of V3mail doesn't process HTML code in your email. If you want to modify your text, use the built in text styler.
How do I attach more than 1 video message or video snapshot to my email?
V3mail allows you to make more than 1 video message/snapshot per email & will automatically give a unique name to each of your additional video messages/snapshots.
How do I rename my video message or video snapshot?
V3mail allows you to rename your voice message in the Voice Message window.
Do I need to have a video camera?
It isn't necessary to have a video device to use V3mail. All you need is a sound card to send voice messages. If you would like to record video messages or take video snapshots then you require a video device.
What type of video device works with V3mail?
Any video camera that supports Video For Windows can be used as a video device. This includes parallel port, serial, & USB PC video cameras. If you have a PC video capture card and a video device such as a camcorder, then you can use V3mail to create video messages or video snapshots.
How do I setup/install my video device to work with V3mail?
The installation of the video device is independant of V3mail. If you have successfully installed the video device on your system and are using it in other programs, then you will also be able to use it with V3mail.
How do I attach more than 1 voice message to my email?
V3mail allows you to make more than 1 voice message per email & will automatically give a unique name to each of your additional voice messages.
How do I rename my voice message attachment?
V3mail allows you to rename your voice message in the Voice Message window.
INTERNET
A SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server is a host computer using the SMTP internet standard for sending email. All email reader programs from Microsoft, Netscape, & Eudora support the SMTP protocol for sending email. Almost all ISPs provide you with a SMTP server to send your email.
What do I do if my ISP doesn't provide a SMTP server?
First make sure you don't have a SMTP server by contacting technical support or your system administrator.
If your ISP or network environment doesn't provide a SMTP server & you are connected to the internet, another option would be to sign up for a FREE (or PAY ) email account that provides a SMTP server. Once you do this, they will give you the necessary information to configure your email reader program (like Microsoft Outlook) and the necessary SMTP server name required by V3mail.
